- Vocational and supplementary additional qualifications
- Access by means of a completed course of study and/or professional experience
- Mainly followed alongside employment
University education and training programmes (Universitätslehrgänge) are continuing education programmes offered by universities and Universities of Applied Sciences. The education and training programmes consist of a predetermined curriculum and provide vocational and supplementary additional qualifications in a specific subject area.
The requirement to attend a programme of continuing education or training programme (Weiterbildungslehrgang) consists of a completed course of study and/or relevant professional experience. The admission requirements for each university education and training programme are determined individually. To enable workers to participate in these education and training programmes, the majority of university education and training programmes are designed to be followed alongside employment and lectures are held in the evenings, where possible, or in block form. University education and training programmes conclude with an academic degree (Master's) or an academic title (Academic Expert), and the required entry level (e.g. completed Bachelor's studies) is necessary in order to ensure international comparability.
In university education and training programmes with a minimum of 30 hours per semester, those who complete the programmes are granted the academic title of Academic Expert (Akademische/r Experte/in).
Details of the individual university education and training programmes can be obtained directly from the providing universities or the course management teams.
The next step:
After completing a course at a university or University of Applied Sciences, one of many options available is to attend additional university courses to obtain additional or higher level qualifications.
